The phrase that has held back so many people is “better safe than sorry.” Unfortunately we grow up believing that we should not take risks or take chances. When we see someone succeeding because they took a big “risk”, we often call them crazy or marvel at their willingness to take a chance. When I started my firm, ActusMR, Inc, I was sandwiched between feedback, such as, “What are you thinking?” and “You’re my hero.” I’m not trying to claim that I’m worthy of being a hero, but starting a company seems out of reach of so many people who want to own their own business. It often seems bigger than life. In fact, one of the characteristics of an entrepreneur is that they’ll take educated risks to get ahead. The video below provides my viewpoint on why you might want to rethink the idea that not starting a company is playing it safe. The world is changing rapidly around us and if you’re relying on a j.o.b. (just over broke) to give you security and stability, then you need to open your eyes at what is happening around you.
